Universal and Harry Potter

(Vacation Post #1)

Hey y’all! I’m back! Life has been so busy lately that I haven’t been able to just sit down and write a blog post about my vacation back in June to Florida with my family. I finally was able to upload all of the pictures to my computer and write this post.

Since I took so many pictures and did so much in Florida, I am going to write a series of posts so I’m not trying to condense my whole trip all into one small post.

The first four days in Florida, my family spent in Orlando and we went to Disney World and Universal Studios. For this post, I’ll be writing about and showing pictures to y’all from Universal because that’s what we did for the first two days!

This wasn’t my first time at Universal. (I went last year with my school’s band program for spring break) And let me just say, even though this was my second time and I had already seen everything, it was NEVER boring. We only spent one day at Universal when I went with band, so my family went for two days and we were able to spend so much more time doing what we really wanted to do.I am a HUGE Harry Potter fan, so you can probably imagine that I spent majority of my time in those areas of the park haha! I totally nerded out the whole time we were there and was running around like a kid in a candy store.

Of course I had to get myself some Harry Potter merchandise to show off my Gryffindor and Hogwarts pride! I ended up getting these items:

This Gryffindor backpack was my favorite item I got while I was here. I was able to carry around all of my park necessities inside and it is actually a really comfy backpack. The straps are well made and have cushions in them so they don’t dig into your shoulders!

Of course I had to grab one of those interactive wands from Ollivander’s while I was here! I picked out Hermione’s Wand because she has been my favorite Harry Potter character since I first read the books way back in elementary school. Her wand is GORGEOUS and is covered in little vines and leaves. The interactive wands are totally worth the price and make your experience so much for fun! They work really well and they make you feel like a real witch or wizard!

I am also a huge pin collector so I had to grab myself a Gryffindor lanyard and a chocolate frog pin! The chocolate frog actually feels and smells like milk chocolate!

I also had to get myself a sweet or two, so of course I went with the classic chocolate frogSadly, I ate the frog before taking these pictures. It was just SO good! (The frog was solid chocolate)

That is all of my Harry Potter merchandise I got!

I brought my polaroid with me and it was so hard to control myself when taking pictures! Everything was just so cute and I loved snapping pics in all of the different areas of the park!

Frozen Butterbeer is a MUST! This might just be the best frozen treat I have ever tasted! If you are in the park and it is blazing hot, like when I was there, this is the perfect drink to cool you down. I couldn’t get enough of this stuff!

Hogsmeade was super cute and ironically super hot despite the fake snow everywhere. Even though it was so hot, it was still super fun!

Riding the Hogwarts Express is another must! It goes back and forth between Hogsmeade and King’s Cross Station in London (next to Diagon Alley). You get to visit platform 9 3/4 at King’s Cross. The train was like a dream come true and they make you feel like a student at Hogwarts!

The Knight Bus was one of my favorite parts of the London section of Universal. It is located right outside the entrances to King’s Cross Station and Diagon Alley. The bus has actual beds and toothbrush holders and has all three decks. You can only go inside part of the back but it was still really cool. The driver is in full uniform and the shrunken head actually talks. Like REALLY talks.

When you are in line for the Hippogriff, you get to visit Hagrid’s hut and you can hear Fang barking from inside the hut!

Diagon Alley was soooooo pretty at night. Everything is lit up and when the dragon breathes fire, it lights up the whole alley!

I’m not just a Harry Potter fan. I’m also a lover of rollercoasters and superheros, and sadly  one of my favorite rides, the Incredible Hulk, was closed for maintenance. I still was able to ride another one of my favorites, the Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit though.

This coaster is by far one of the smoothest rides I have ever been on. It may look absolutely terrifying with that huge straight up climb, but it is thrilling!

The dining was also really great here! We went to Mythos in Islands of Adventure for lunch on our first day and their food was so crazy good. It wasn’t just regular amusement park food and this Wood Oven Flat Bread above was really yummy!

We also ate at the Three Broomsticks the second day but I forgot to take more pictures. I had Butterbeer and Fish and Chips! Again, it wasn’t just regular amusement park food and was actually really good!

They are going to have a Jimmy Fallon attraction in the next year or two and I AM SO EXCITED as you can see in the picture above! The Tonight Show is hysterical and awesome and I hope the attraction lives up to that!

Before you ask, YES, Fred and George’s shop totally lived up to the books and movies!

Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed this post! Stay tuned for the rest of my Florida Adventure Posts!

Have a magical day!

xoxo, Annie
